Why we name just one hotel

A short account of the idea, the people and the limits we keep.

The thinking behind it

Lists of ten resorts tend to blur together, and the reader still has to choose. We decided to do the choosing. Azurine Stays settles on one hotel that houses a casino and argues for it on the grounds a guest actually feels: the setting, the architecture, the bedroom, the public spaces and what you can reach on foot. The gaming floor is left out of the judgement on purpose.

Things this site refuses to carry

  • Play of any kind. The site hosts no games and links to no betting or casino operator.
  • Offers or bonuses. We do not promote promotions, codes or loyalty schemes.
  • A reservation engine. Bookings happen with the hotel; we never see them and are never paid for them.
  • Ratings dressed up as science. No stars, no scores, no counters.

Our sources

The review rests on information the resort publishes, on long-standing public facts about the building and its landmarks, and on plain geography. Where we are not certain of something, such as a figure or a schedule, we leave it out rather than guess. The method is laid out step by step on the How we chose page.

Keeping it accurate

Restaurants change names, shows go dark for maintenance and room categories get renamed. If you notice something on this site that no longer matches reality, flag it on the contact page. Each note is looked into, and confirmed errors are fixed in the copy.
